"When a tiny girl walks on the stage, people become quiet and attentive. They want to know what this little girl is all about, and what she has to say."
I am a co-founder of a start-up company, a designer, and a Tech Entrepreneur. However, initially, when I started looking for a job after graduating, I faced a lot of problems. I was criticized by HR, 'why her when it could be any other normal person', but what is 'normal'? I never understood.
Later, a friend from school who loves fashion and styling helped me pick up my new wardrobe and told me how to dress according to my body and size that would make me look presentable, mature, and professional. With the change in my style and wardrobe, I felt the change in my attitude. I looked beautiful and smart in the mirror and felt confident.
My father made me a stepping table when I was a kid so I could reach the higher shelves. I learned how to walk with the stepping table, so I didn't have to step up and down every few minutes to get things while cooking. My boyfriend laughs every time when he sees me walking like that, but it's convenient and works.
My message to the parents and the teachers with children with special needs is, treat us just like you would treat the rest. Everyone has an ability that they need to discover on their own, and live their lives as it suits them.
